One of our Coordinators passes along the news that one of four Pilgrim statues of Our Lady of Fatima will visit two New Orleans churches at the beginning of November. This statue is the only religious statue ever allowed entry into the United Nations Meditation Room; on December 8, 1952, it was placed in the UN Meditation room where Msgr. Harold Colgan, Founder of the the World Apostolate of Fatima, led the recitation of the Rosary - on that day hundreds of people at the UN prayed for the end of the Korean War and peace in the world. The statues were made under the direction of Sister Lucia, one of the three Fatima visionaries, and belong to the Fatima Sanctuary in Portugal. The custodian of the statue, Judith Studer, a wife, mother, and registered nurse, will speak at both locations following the Masses. Studer claims that she was cured of inoperable colon cancer and also that her granddaughter, Jessica Marfeo, was cured of neuroblastoma. Besides Studer's talks, there will also be Masses and Rosaries to Our Lady of Fatima, and Eucharistic Adoration. Items (rosaries, medals, etc.) from the Fatima Shrine will be available for purchase.
